I have been using CB radio since 1974.  I have had a strong interest in radio communications since I was twelve years old.   My father was issued a CB radio license / callsign  from the FCC in 1962 (KBG5085)  At that time he used CB radio for business communications in his excavating company.

Citizen Band Radio (CB) was not originally intended to be a hobby as it is today.  It was used for real communications from  1950 until about 1970.    Today it is more of a hobby than anything else.  However, OTR (Over The Road ) truck drivers  do still use CB as more than just a hobby.  I drove trucks from 1989 until today, and I have always had a CB in my truck.

Long distance  eleven meter CB radio contacts on low power.    I truly enjoy using LEGAL CB radio equipment.  Twelve watt Full Legal Limit on SSB  is my favorite mode of CB operation.  I no longer use amplifiers on CB.  I am 100 percent legal these days !  On SSB I use legal CB frequencies in the USA. 

 I can usually be found on 27.355 to 27.405 MHz on LSB 

I have had World Wide contacts including Cape Town S. Africa,  Germany,  Belgium,  UK,  Spain and others.

In August of 2017 the FCC removed the five decades old rule that made it illegal to knowingly establish two-way contact with stations more than 153 miles away (250 KM)
